PURE BLUES bass strings combine a fat, warm punch with an edge especially designed for the modern bass player. By combining a new and unique Quantum-Nickel with the highest possible standard in winding techniques, PURE BLUES bass strings achieve an unsurpassed sound and feel. Hand-wound on round cores for increased flexibility.  DR strings are handmade (not machine-made) because our expert string makers are capable of making micro adjustments needed throughout the winding process for the best sound and feel possible.

The difference is real.

Fantastic strings!
The DR Pure Blue strings combine the best of two worlds, round wounds and flat wound strings! I have bought two sets in the last 2 years, the 5 string set and the 4 string set PB-45 and I just ordered another set the PB-45 from Sho Me Sound & Music/LoMax Bass. I practice on my bass every day plus gig 1-3 times per week. The DR Pure Blues strings have not broken on me during gigs, they last a very long time, I usually get 6-8 months on a set between Changes, they have a smooth to the touch feel, no Zing! The tone out of the package is just a little bright but not over bright like you'd find with stainless steel strings, the longer they are played the smoother & mellow the tone gets think mellow Flatwounds but these have that awesome nickel tone to them! I drop tune to BEAD and these strings are not floppy or muddy on my 34" scale basses. I tell you this, these strings sound like no other strings made and are very high quality and gives you that professional sound quality! I used to play brand X stainless steel Flatwound strings for most of my bass playing career but NOT anymore. I have tried many other brands for 2-4 weeks (some less) but I'd always go back to brand X. The DR Pure Blue strings are the BEST strings you'll ever play on you bass. Give them a try today! You will not be disappointed but you'll discover the best strings that you have ever played on you bass.
